Hardwood Floor Cleaning

Mops and brooms can only do so much removing dirt and dust at the surface, but they do not restore damage or lessen the appearance of scratches.  At Lookout Carpet Cleaning and Restoration, we use our hardwood floor machine cleaner and hot water to actually extract dirt, leaving your hardwood floors as clean as possible.

The Cleaning Process

Step 1:  Pre-Inspection
We first determine if the floor contains any wax, oily residue, or other contaminants which may affect the adhesion of a new finish. We also find out if a re-coating system can restore floors, or if a more aggressive method is needed.

Step 2:  Area Preparation
We will prepare the areas surrounding the wood, making sure not to disturb any other connecting floor types. At this point all furniture that will be cleaned under is moved.

Step 3:  Dry Soil Removal
Our technicians thoroughly sweep and vacuum the entire area, maximizing the results we obtain. As in any cleaning process, dry soil removal is most important.

Step 4:  Cleaning
The cleaning process includes multiple applications of cleaning solutions with state-of-the-art equipment which PRODUCES NO DUST WHATSOEVER! Surface accumulations of common household pollutants such as food residues or pet oils are removed without abrading your floor to expose any bare wood.

Step 5:  Re-Coating
The existing finish on the floor is then chemically etched and recoated with environmentally friendly, non-flammable, waterborne polyurethane. This finish is formulated for heavy residential or commercial traffic and dries overnight.

Step 6:  Drying
After re-coating the floor, we speed dry it with high velocity air movers.

Step 7:  Post-inspection
Technicians will initiate a walk through and go over results before leaving.

Hardwood Floor Cleaning Tips

Regular mopping just doesn’t reach the stubborn dirt that lies deep in the pores of your hardwood, but our hardwood floor cleaning process does. We use a high-speed rotary brush extraction machine and a neutral cleaning agent to break up tough dirt and contaminates. The final step is to go over the floor using a microfiber mop. Edges are hand scrubbed, as are stairs.

Don’t use ammonia or vinegar cleaners to clean a hardwood floor.

Don’t use cleaners that leave a film or residue.

Don’t use a vacuum with a beater bar that can scratch the wood. Vacuum with a soft brush tool made for bare floors.

Pushing a wet mop with a water-based cleaner on a hardwood floor can damage wood, and usually just moves dirt around.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software.
